Program Overview
To improve public health, safety, welfare, and accessibility, the City of Huntington partners with property owners to enhance sidewalks under the Sidewalk Replacement Program.
The program helps property owners pay for replacing part or all of their sidewalks. Each year, based on historical and current data, the City sets program rates for standard sidewalk replacements.
The City will cover the full cost of approved ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps.
The City will pay up to 50% of the cost of eligible sidewalk replacements.
The City reserves the right to change or end the program without notice and depending on available funding.
How to Qualify
To receive financial support through the program, property owners must meet all of the following conditions:
Submit a fully completed Sidewalk Replacement Application Form.
Receive written notice from the City’s Engineering Department confirming the maximum available funding.
Do not begin construction until written approval is granted.
Complete all work within 90 days of approval (extensions may be requested but are not guaranteed).
Receive approval from the Engineering Department for any changes to planned improvements.
Allow City inspections both before concrete is poured and after completion.
Ensure the City receives a contractor quote with the application.
After all requirements are met, the City will issue payment for its portion directly to the contractor.
The City may prioritize requests based on best use of program funds.
