Last October – aka “Oaktober” – Huntington planted 500 trees. This year, we’re gearing up to do it again!

Are you interested in planting trees in the tree lawn near your property? The City has obtained a grant to add trees in the public right-of-way along our streets and roads. If you're interested in having a tree planted under this program, please click below and complete the form!

Not every address is eligible under the grant. The City Forester will review all applications and help determine the right trees to plant in the right places.

Friendly Competition

The rules for R4YB are simple: The part of town that has the most homes sign up for Oaktober wins! The prize includes 100 extra trees planted throughout your neighborhood to enjoy all the beauty and benefits of new trees, plus a neighborhood block party at the Huntington Drive-In.

R4YB is taking place alongside our Oaktober initiative to plant 500 new trees in Huntington. Both are funded by an American Forests Grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Oaktober planting zones are designated by the grant to focus on areas that need new trees the most, so not all addresses are eligible. Everyone interested in a free street tree in the right-of-way near their yard should still sign up, because other tree opportunities may be available outside the grant program.
