Etna Avenue Project

Etna Avenue before 2017 improvements

Project Focus

Etna Avenue, old State Route 9, was once  a major thoroughfare within the City of Huntington. With  two school buildings (Riverview and Horace Mann) to the south, the industrial park within one mile to the west, and the airport within one mile to the east, the City identified an economic development area that has the potential to thrive again.

The focus of this project will be to reduce the risk of flooding through improved stormwater management. Pedestrian safety will also be enhanced by widening the road, installing sidewalks and curbs, and linking the area to Huntington's growing network of multi-use trails. Etna Avenue will once again be a beautiful gateway to our city.

This website will be updated periodically to ensure that residents are fully aware of the progress of the project as well as any public meetings that will be scheduled, to allow for residents' feedback and concerns. If you have any questions or concerns and do not find your answer within the City's website, please feel free to contact the City Engineering Department at (260)356-1400 and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
