Recycling Guide

Plastic:

  • #1 through #5 plastic containers including PET, HDPE, PVC, LDPE, and PP (no film plastics or bags regardless of number).

Glass:

  • ONLY clear, brown and green food and beverage glass bottles and jars

Paper:

  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Junk mail
  • Soap and cereal boxes
  • Catalogs
  • Phone books
  • School and office papers
  • Other cardboard boxes
  • Corrugated boxes
  • Paper grocery sacks

Metal:

  • Aluminum beverage cans
  • Steel (tin) food cans
  • Empty aerosol cans
  • Empty and dry paint cans

Trash:

  • All other plastic items
  • All other types of glass and glassware
  • All soiled papers from bathrooms and kitchens
  • All wax products and wax-coated paper
  • Windowed envelopes


If you live in the town of Markle, set the above items out for curbside recycling pickup. If you live elsewhere in Huntington County, take these items to one of the recycling drop-off sites located at:

1. Hazardous Materials Facility – 517 S. 300 W., Huntington
    • 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays
    • Thursdays by appointment
    • 8 to 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month
2. Memorial Park Service Building – 1205 W. Park Drive, Huntington
    • 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday
3. 450 Wabash St., Andrews
4. Town Garage – 316 W. Second St., Warren
