Director Robert Jeffers

Robert Jeffers has proudly called Huntington County home since 1971. A graduate of Vincennes University with an associate degree in law enforcement, Robert began his public safety career as a police officer with the Town of Roanoke before joining the Indiana State Police, where he served with distinction for 30 years. He retired as a Master Trooper in 2014.

During his time with the Indiana State Police, Robert was an active member of several specialized units, including the SCUBA team and the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP). He also achieved over one million safe driving miles, a rare milestone that signifies zero accidents throughout his ISP career. He was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and graduated from the ISP Mustang Program, a highly regarded advanced driver training course.

Following his retirement, Robert continued serving the Huntington County community as a Special Deputy with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office in 2015. In 2016, he joined Huntington County Emergency Management as an Administrative Assistant and quickly transitioned into the role of Director.

As EMA Director, Robert has achieved the Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) certification from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security in 2017. Robert achieved the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) designation in 2021, one of the highest credentials in the emergency management field.

Robert remains actively involved in numerous local committees and advisory groups, including:

  • Huntington County Emergency Management Advisory Board
  • Huntington County Public Safety Dispatch Board
  • Safe Schools Committee
  • Safe Prom Committee

His decades of public safety experience, combined with his dedication to community preparedness and response, make him an invaluable asset to Huntington County and its residents.
