City, County Raise Awareness for 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

20240216 Crisis Lifeline Awareness

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – If you are struggling and need somewhere to turn, there is help.

To remind the community of this, Huntington County and the City of Huntington are raising awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

“The Huntington County Commissioners want to help ensure that people who may be in crisis know that there is somewhere they can turn for help.  We have ordered 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline supplies from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and are in the process of dispersing them.  Anyone can get these supplies free of charge by ordering through the SAMHSA website.  Your mental health is as important as your physical health and we want to encourage everyone to do what they can to stay healthy in all aspects of their lives,” Huntington County Commissioner Tom Wall said.

Huntington Mayor Richard Strick said, “None of us gets through life on our own, and we want to continue to walk with one another.”

Posters will be displayed at the Courthouse and City offices around Huntington. They prompt community members to share information about the 988 Lifeline with anyone in crisis. Magnets and cards with the Crisis Lifeline information also are available to any business, organization or individual that would like to help spread the message of hope and encouragement.

Please visit the SAMHSA website at https://store.samhsa.gov/product/988-suicide-crisis-lifeline-poster-hope/pep22-08-03-005 for ordering details.
