Ribbon-Cutting Celebrates Bridge #23 Reopening Northwest of Warren
HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. – The Huntington County Commissioners and Highway Department celebrated the reopening of Bridge #23 northwest of Warren, Ind., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, December 11.
The bridge is located where County Road 900 S crosses the Salamonie River. It reopened to traffic on October 31 after 186 days of construction to improve its safety and longevity.
The Commissioners’ Office thanks engineer USI Consultants Inc. and project contractor Milestone Contractors for their excellent work and dedication to safety and quality throughout construction.
Bridge #23’s rehabilitation features a new 305-foot, weathering steel girder superstructure and revitalized substructure components. The bridge deck was reinforced and widened, and CR 900 S was reshaped leading up to the bridge from both directions to provide drivers with a safer approach. In addition, the project lengthened the bridge railing north onto Bellville Road to protect drivers from the steep slope at the bridge’s northeast corner.
Federal funds awarded to Huntington County in 2018 backed the rehabilitation project. The current Huntington County Commissioners are Tom Wall, Rob Miller and Terry Stoffel. Troy Hostetler serves as the Highway Department superintendent.
