HUNTINGTON – The Indiana Connectivity Program, which aims to extend broadband internet service to unserved and underserved parts of the state, launches today.

Residents and businesses with no available service provider or speeds of less than 25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload can apply for consideration at www.in.gov/ocra/broadband/icp.

Internet service providers will have the opportunity to review these submissions and submit bids to the state on the cost of providing service to these locations, according to the Indiana Connectivity Program website. The state’s Next Level Connections Broadband Programs, which includes the Indiana Connectivity Program, has been allocated $270 million to extend access to broadband internet service.

A statement for State Sen. Andy Zay said the “best avenue to participate in the NEXT Level Broadband Grants and the Indiana Connectivity Program is to be a ‘broadband ready community.’” Huntington County was awarded this designation in August.

Anyone who cannot access the online portal to register their location can call (833) 639-8522 for assistance. Providing your location information to the Indiana Connectivity Program does not guarantee extension of service.
