HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The United Way of Huntington County, Purdue Extenstion and Huntington County’s Commissioners’ Office, Health Department and Emergency Management Agency are teaming up to provide free box fans to Huntington County residents who need assistance keeping their homes cooler with high temperatures and an excessive heat warning in this week’s forecast.
The box fans will be distributed at the Indiana Family Care Center, 501 N. Jefferson St., on Tuesday, August 27, and Wednesday, August 28. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. on both days.
Thanks to a grant the United Way of Huntington County obtained from the Duke Energy Foundation and assistance from Walmart, 100 box fans will be available at no cost to Huntington County residents.
To receive a box fan, residents will need to visit the Indiana Family Care Center in-person (please do not call) and provide their name and address. Fans are limited to one per household on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
