Indiana moves to Stage 3: What you need to know

This morning, Indiana entered Stage 3 of the governor's Back on Track Indiana plan two days earlier than previously planned.

Gov. Eric Holcomb signed Executive Order 20-28 Thursday afternoon moving up the opening of Stage 3 from Sunday, May 24, for most Indiana counties, including Huntington. Read the Executive Order here.

There are some changes that affect Huntington:

  • The Huntington Parks and Recreation Department has already started reopening most park facilities such as basketball courts and tennis courts. However, Gov. Holcomb's executive order shifts reopening of playground equipment to Stage 4.
  • The City of Huntington will comply with this order and playground equipment will remain closed until further notice under the governor's directive.
  • Movie theaters, which had been set to reopen under Stage 3, will now remain closed until at least Stage 4.

An Indy Star news article breaks down what you should know about Stage 3:

  • Social gatherings can go from 25 to 100 people with social distancing in place.

Restaurants

  • Restaurants will continue to operate at 50 percent capacity until June 14.

Face coverings

  • Cloth face masks are still recommended when out in public.

High-risk groups

  • Those 65 and older or who have underlying health conditions should continue to use caution and limit their exposure.
