City Building Offices to Close to Public

In response to rapidly evolving conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Huntington will close the City Building, located at 300 Cherry St., to public access effective 8 a.m. Monday, March 23. The closure will remain in place until further notice.

“This is the next step in implementing the city’s operations preparedness plan for COVID-19 to protect our residents and our city employees and limit its spread,” Huntington Mayor Richard Strick said.

All city government offices will remain staffed as the city continues to provide public services. Residents who need to contact the city can call (260) 356-1400.

The public will still be able to access the water bill payment drop box located inside the Police Department entryway near the intersection of Cherry and State streets.

Please follow social distancing guidelines and maintain six feet of distance from others if you must enter the drop box location. No access can be permitted past this point at this time.

The city is following guidance provided by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and Public Access Counselor Luke Britt with regard to city board, council and commission meetings. Any changes to meetings will be posted as soon as possible.

“This is a fluid situation, and as we receive information the city’s response will adapt accordingly,” Mayor Strick said. “We will continue to assess our response and place the safety of our residents and employees first while continuing to provide public services.”
