2020 Primary Election Season - Early Voting & Important Details

As Indiana’s 2020 primary elections near, Huntington County residents soon will have their first say in which nominees appear on the presidential ballot.

Huntington will find out which candidates advance to the General Election for several local public offices as well. Important election information and key dates to remember can be found below.

Early Voting

The first opportunity to cast a primary ballot comes on April 7, and early voting closes May 4. Don’t forget your photo ID.

-Huntington County Courthouse (201 N. Jefferson St., Huntington)

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 to May 1 (Mondays through Fridays only)
  • 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 25 and May 2 (Saturdays)
  • 9 a.m. to noon May 4

-YMCA (1160 500 North, Huntington)

  • 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27-28

-Cottage Event Center (9524 U.S. 24 N, Roanoke)

  • 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 27-28

-American Legion (1410 S. Jefferson St., Huntington)

  • 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 29-30

-Andrews Town Hall (66 N. Main St., Andrews)

  • Noon to 6 p.m. May 1

Absentee Voting

Huntington County residents may request an absentee ballot by calling (260) 358-4820. The deadline is Thursday, April 23.

Primary Election Day

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at the following locations across Huntington County:

  • Huntington County Courthouse, 201 N. Jefferson St., Huntington
  • Heritage Hall, 631 E. Taylor St., Huntington
  • YMCA, 1160 500 N., Huntington
  • First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road, Huntington
  • Cottage Event Center, 9524 U.S. 24 North, Roanoke
  • Warren Church of Christ, 302 N. Main St., Warren

Voter Registration

Huntington County residents who will be at least 18 by General Election Day on Nov. 3, 2020, have several options to register to vote.

These include online at indianavoters.in.gov, in person at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Huntington County Clerk’s Office, or by mailing a completed Voter Registration Form to the Clerk’s Office.

  • To register online, go to indianavoters.in.gov and click “Apply Now” located under the Register to Vote header.
  • To register by mail, download the Voter Registration Application (VRG-7) from indianavoters.in.gov/MVPHome/PrintDocuments. Print and complete the form, then mail it to Huntington County Voter Registration, P.O. Box 228, Huntington, IN 46750. You will receive a Voter Acknowledgment Card by mail when your application has been processed.
  • The Huntington BMV is located at 2982 W. Park Drive and can be reached at (888) 692-6841.
  • The County Clerk’s Office is located at 201 N. Jefferson St. and can be reached at (260) 358-4820.

Local Primary Candidates

County positions slated for a primary vote include treasurer, coroner, commissioner, council at-large, precinct committees, and state convention delegates. Top vote-getters will then move on to the General Election in November.
