HUNTINGTON – The City of Huntington, in partnership with Huntington County United Economic Development, is excited to introduce Hanjung America Corp. as the newest industrial partner at the Riverfork West (RFW) Industrial Park.

“Huntington is proud to welcome a Hanjung America production facility to Riverfork West. Hanjung’s technology makes energy storage safer and more effective, two critical requirements to lowering energy costs for consumers throughout the grid,” Mayor Richard Strick said. “These are good-paying manufacturing jobs, and our workforce will demonstrate once again what makes Huntington a special community in this global economy.”

A primary supplier of key safety components used in large-scale energy storage system (ESS) containers, Hanjung America will establish its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility on 133 acres at Riverfork West. The company will manufacture cooling systems and fire-suppression technologies in Huntington to support Stellantis’ and Samsung SDI’s electric vehicle battery manufacturing operations in Kokomo, Indiana.

The company is planning an April 2026 groundbreaking ceremony and targets operations to begin in June 2027. Ultimately, the Riverfork West site could host multiple manufacturing buildings, a representative for Hanjung told city officials during the February 24 Huntington City Council meeting.

Hanjung will employ more than 300 workers in Huntington when operations start, with more than 440 positions at full employment. These jobs will earn more than the county average at an average hourly wage of more than $28.

“We are delighted to establish Hanjung America in Huntington and to become a member of the Indiana community, and we look forward to contributing to regional development,” said Kevin Kim, president of Hanjung America. “This new location allows us to better serve our local customers with our leading-edge technology ESS components.”

Based on the company’s investment and job creation plans in Huntington, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) committed an investment in Hanjung America of up to $4.5 million in the form of incentive-based tax credits, up to $400,000 in Hoosier Business Investment tax credits, and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s plans to create more than 500 jobs statewide. These incentives are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim state benefits once investments are made and jobs are created.

Huntington’s City Council also approved a plan to phase in Hanjung’s property tax obligations over a 10-year period to support the company’s job creation efforts and its significant investment in the community.
