Oaktober is a new city program to plant 500 trees this October.

This October, the City of Huntington will plant 500 new trees — and we need your help! There are two ways to get involved.

1. Sign Up for a FREE Street Tree

The City received a grant to plant trees and increase Huntington’s urban tree canopy. If you’d like to plant a tree on/near your property, use the link below to sign up by Sept. 22. There’s no cost to you, and the City will handle all planting (with volunteer help).

Not all addresses are eligible under the grant. The City Forester will review each request and determine the best locations and tree species.

2. Sign Up to Volunteer

We’re looking for volunteers to plant trees throughout the community at places such as Yeoman Park, Erie Park, the Huntington YMCA and along Old Highway 24. Multiple volunteer events are planned throughout “Oaktober” starting on October 1.

Ready to dig in? Follow the link below and complete the form to let us know you want to volunteer. Thanks in advance for your help and support!
