PROCLAMATION 

March 24, 2025

WHEREAS, the City of Huntington, Huntington County and local agencies serving children and families in our communities share the important goal of protecting children and preventing child abuse and neglect before it occurs; and

WHEREAS, prevention begins with authentic and meaningful collaborations among parents and caregivers, educators, faith communities, family services providers, law enforcement agencies and community leaders working together to create comprehensive systems in which all families can thrive; and

WHEREAS, we recognize that families are strongest when policies and programs in a community help them meet their basic needs for food, safe housing, transportation, child care, health care and employment; and

WHEREAS, we dedicate ourselves to children’s well-being and equipping parents with tools, resources and support to help them parent effectively; and

WHEREAS, we express our appreciation to the professionals who intervene with grace and care in situations where children find themselves in harm’s way, so that healing and restoration can begin; and

WHEREAS, we commit ourselves fully to providing safe and stable environments for children to grow, develop and learn; 

NOW, THEREFORE, on behalf of the Huntington County Commissioners and the City of Huntington, we hereby proclaim April 2025 to be NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH in Huntington County, Indiana, and urge all residents to help us work toward improving the quality of life for all children and families.
