Heavy construction equipment near the Jefferson and Tipton intersection, which will close on or after July 7.

On or after July 7, significant work will begin at the Tipton and Jefferson intersection as part of our Long-Term Control Plan. Crews will install a new sewer main—about 30 feet deep—that must cross Jefferson to connect at Byron. This is an essential but challenging part of the project and will impact traffic for a couple of months.

While using Tipton helped avoid the heart of downtown, there were no viable paths that didn’t cross Jefferson. We understand this is still a hardship for drivers and residents along that stretch.

This closure has been mentioned in recent newsletters, but now that the timeline is more certain, we’re providing this formal notice to help you plan ahead.

West Park Drive will be open from both directions (Lafontaine and Poplar to the west, and Warren, Guilford and Byron to the east) for easy access to Downtown. Please help us continue supporting all our local restaurants and shops!

We're also working on ways to document the progress with photos, updates and behind-the-scenes looks—so you can see the scale and purpose of this important work.

Yes, it’s a disruption—but it’s also a vital step toward cleaner rivers and a healthier community. Thank you for your patience and continued support!
