Huntington County Auditor’s Department has an opening for a Part-Time Office Clerk

Responsibilities include answering phone, greeting visitors, working with Deputy Auditors to transfer deeds, research documents, processing exemptions, and other duties as assigned.  Must have excellent communication and computer skills.  Courthouse is open from 8:00a.m to 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday. Huntington County is recruiting candidates for an Executive Director of the Department of Community Development


This position serves as Executive Director for Community Development; responsible for directing department operations and planning, coordinating and implementing development programs and policies within the County of Huntington, including all incorporated towns. The position is responsible for four (4) department employees. In addition, the department is a joint planning and building department responsible for working with six (6) different entities, including Huntington County and five (5) other incorporated towns within the County.


Successful candidates must have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of community planning and ability to direct operations of a planning, zoning and building department. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of Indiana Code as it relates to planning, zoning and land development. Qualified candidates should also have knowledge of City, Municipal and County government operations and current trends in local, state and federal planning, including ability to draft regulations, policies and ordinances accordingly.


In addition, successful candidates must also possess excellent communication and computer skills, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
A Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning or similar field required. Preference given to candidates with five years of progressively responsible planning experience, including at least two years of experience in a supervisory capacity and Certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). Candidates should also have some experience with GIS systems.

The Huntington County Superior Court is accepting applications for a Court Operations Specialist

This position is responsible for recording court proceedings, maintaining order and security of courtroom, and completing other court duties as assigned by the Judge. This position requires the ability to type with speed and accuracy. Successful candidates must possess proficient computer skills and have the ability to read and record verbatim court proceedings and operate standard office equipment.


Two to five years’ experience in a legal office or court room is strongly preferred. Any type of degree or certification in secretarial, legal assistant, paralegal, or other related field is helpful or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Must be 18 years old, and have a HS Diploma/GED.
Hourly rate depending on experience.

Huntington County Highway Department has openings for Full-Time Equipment Operators

This position is responsible for operating various vehicles and equipment in clearing and maintaining County roads, ditches, and right-of-ways, including dump truck, bucket truck, asphalt paver, front-end loader, excavator, crane, backhoe, snow plow, stone chipper, compaction roller, skid loader, grader and jack hammer.

Candidates must have a valid CDL driver’s license.  In addition, a successful candidate must also have working knowledge of and skill in operation of using a variety of trucks and equipment, with ability to affix and properly use all attachments.    Candidate must be available to serve on 24-hour call and respond to emergencies from off-duty status.  Must be 18 years old, and have a HS Diploma/GED.  

Hourly rate is $19.27 hr depending on experience.

Huntington County Highway Department is recruiting for Part-Time Mowing Summer Help

Responsibilities include operating mowing equipment and mowing duties in Huntington County as assigned. 

Must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid Driver’s License.

Hours will be set by the office and will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Position will work 3 to 4 days per week through November 1st.

The Huntington County Sheriff’s Department Jail is currently recruiting for additional Jail Officers (PART TIME)

May be required to work a variety of different shifts, mostly evenings and weekends.  These positions may have some scheduled shifts, and may be called for short-notice fill-in shifts.  There are no specific number of minimum hours per month; preference given to employees who work at least one shift a month after training period.

There is a five (5) day training required, along with a specific number of hours training on-the-job. Please only serious applicants should apply. Full time vacancies are generally filled from part time employee pool.

This position is responsible for maintaining control and ensuring safety of facility staff and inmates. Position is also responsible for maintaining security of facility, handling booking and bonding procedures, and handing facility rule/regulation compliance.  

Candidates will be trained in First Aid/CPR, AED and Defensive Tactics. In addition, a successful candidate must also possess excellent communication and computer skills, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision.   Candidate must be open to work hours and days of the week. Must be 21 years old, and have a HS Diploma/GED.

Pay is up to $14.13 / hour depending on experience.
