Full Time and Part Time Jail Officers 

Part time positions may have some scheduled shifts, and may be called for short-notice fill-in shifts.  There are no specific number of minimum hours per month; preference given to employees who work at least one shift a month after training period.

There is a five (5) day training required, along with a specific number of hours training on-the-job.  Please only serious applicants should apply.  Full time vacancies are generally filled from part time employee pool.

This position is responsible for maintaining control and ensuring safety of facility staff and inmates. Position is also responsible for maintaining security of facility, handling booking and bonding procedures, and handing facility rule/regulation compliance.  

Candidates will be trained in First Aid/CPR, AED and Defensive Tactics.  In addition, a successful candidate must also possess excellent communication and computer skills, along with the ability to work with minimal supervision.    Candidate must be open to work hours and days of the week.

Huntington County Community Corrections Department has an opening for  Full Time or Part Time Living Unit Coordinators for the Restorative Residential Work Release/Community Corrections department.

This position is responsible for the daily supervision of participants of the work release program utilizing prescribed policies and procedures, ensures a secure, safe and humane environment for individuals serving executed sentences through the use of evidence based practices.

A successful candidate will have successfully completed a High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in the area of criminal justice, social work, or counseling.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to empower program participants to make life-changing decisions by providing appropriate and specific evaluation, analysis and problem-solving techniques.

A successful candidate must have the ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements, as well as work with a diverse group of people.

Pay is up to $19.00 per hour, DOQ/E. Individual must be flexible to work hours outside of business hours (8a-4:30p M-F) and possibly weekends.

Huntington County Highway Department is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator II.

Responsibilities include driving various types of trucks and equipment in hauling materials, plowing snow, and maintaining county roads, ditches and right-of-ways. A successful candidate must have working knowledge of and skill in operation of using a variety of trucks and equipment including dump truck, bucket truck, asphalt paver, front-end loader, excavator, crane, backhoe, snow plow, stone chipper, compaction roller, skid loader, grader, mower, and jack hammer. With ability to affix and properly use all attachments. Some mechanical experience working with a variety of equipment and vehicles preferred.

Duties also include working with road materials to assist with sealing, cleaning or patching roads, as well as removing weeds, brush and storm-damaged trees from right-of-ways, ditches and guardrails. Other responsibilities include working on storm drainage, including replacing drainage pipe/tile, exposing utility lines, cleaning drainage sites, and loading/unloading pipe. Duties will vary from day to day depending on road project assignments and weather. 

Candidate must be 18 years old, have a valid Class B CDL driver’s license, and have a high school diploma or GED. Starting pay is up to $20.35 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. 

Work hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Candidate must be open to working extended hours, evenings, and weekends in response to emergencies from off-duty status as needed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily supervision of participants of the pre-trial program utilizing prescribed policies and procedures, ensures a secure, safe and humane environment for individuals serving executed sentences through the use of evidence based practices.

A successful candidate will hold an Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma/GED and three years of experience in the area of criminal justice, social work, or counseling.

Excellent communication skills and ability to to effectively communicate in a courteous and tactful manner including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.

A successful candidate must have the ability to empower program participants to make life-changing decisions by providing appropriate and specific evaluation, analysis and problem-solving techniques.

Pay is up to $16.00 per hour. DOQ/E.  Individual must be flexible to work hours outside of business hours (8a-4:30p M-F) and possibly weekends
